Soroptimist members Dondra Nance and Karen Dolan stuff small bags of donated supplies. The bags will be given to the Helper Clinic to give out to patients that require help with items for general hygiene and personal needs.

The annual Soroptimist Wine Tasting fundraiser generated several thousand dollars that will be distributed locally. Funds are awarded to local programs which enhance the lives of women and girls. This year three programs applied for and will receive funding.
Care-A Van and Lifeline Pregnancy will receive money for their programs. The City of East Carbon Fitness center will use their award for complimentary memberships for women who need some assistance to get started on a fitness plan and a stair stepper machine.
The name, Soroptimist, means “best for women,” and that’s what the organization strives to achieve. Soroptimists are women at their best, working to help other women to be their best.
Soroptimist is an international organization for business and professional women who work to improve the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout the world. Almost 95,000 Soroptimists in about 120 countries and territories contribute time and financial support to community-based and international projects that benefit women and girls.
Soroptimist members belong to local clubs, which determine the focus of volunteer work to their communities. Club projects range from renovating domestic violence shelters and providing mammograms to low-income women, to sponsoring self-esteem workshops for teenage girls.
SI of Price uses their annual wine tasting event as the main fund raising event of the year. Next year’s wine tasting party will again be in November. The event is open to the public and promises an evening of great foods and wines.
SI of Price is currently seeking new members. If you would like to find out more please call Rebecca Mason at 636-3204.
