The Eagles are sitting in third place in the SWAC this weekend after they split a pair against Northern Idaho this weekend to move their record to 6-5 in conference action. CSI is in first at 11-0 and SLCC is in second at 10-1. Snow sits in fourth at 3-8.
NIC took the Friday night game 88-72. But, Saturday the Eagles were victorious as they edged out NIC 64-61. With Snow sitting below them and the two meeting up this weekend, the games will be about finishing strong and making a statement, rather than conference standings.
After struggling on Friday night, CEU found more of the same on Saturday. They headed to the locker room down by 10, struggling to get their offense in gear. Whatever transpired during the break made a difference and the Eagles out scored the Cardinals by 13 points to claim the win. Darington Hobson controlled the boards with 10 rebounds. Rafeal Moreira led the scoring with 10. Stephen Franklin and Felix Caspari contributed nine. Colby Vranes came away with three steals.
The next to last games of regular season play will take place for the Eagles in Ephraim against Snow The teams will go head to head for a pair of games. The following weekend the Eagles will finish out against powerful SLCC. SWAC Tournament play begins March 6-8.
