Travis Hobbs takes first at the region diving competition.

On Jan. 26, Carbon divers t raveled to Park City for the region diving championships.
“The Carbon boys did very well as a team and as individuals,” said Coach Stew Foster.
There were no team trophies given out in the 3A, 4A, and 5A competition, but if there were Carbon would have ended up in first place in all divisions.
As individuals Travis Hobbs placed first and Brett Wells took home second place.
Both boys scored high marks in most of their dives. Nick Torres placed fourth, showing straight body line in most of his entries into the water. Kent Olsen was fifth in the meet, and Kaleb Kulow was sixth. Kaleb has shown a lot of improvement and is ready for some more difficult dives. The top six boys received medals for their efforts.
Dwight Denny placed seventh and Kenny Hobbs placed 8th.
“Kenny Hobbs had passed all his dives except his reverse dive. Nathan Hepworth could not participate due to the flu bug,” said Foster. “Right now, unless the coaches hear different, all the boys with the exception of Kenny have qualified for the state championships.” The state meet will be conducted at BYU in Provo on Feb. 7.
