Clara Thompson
PRICE/WEST JORDAN – Clara Bennion Thompson, age 97, died on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, in West Jordan.
She was born Aug. 21, 1910 in Vernal to David Bennion and Clara Pehrson. Married John Byron Thompson on June 4, 1930 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Byron passed away Sunday, Dec. 23, 1984. They were apart exactly 23 years to the day. Married Frank Cones in August 1986; he passed away in April 1997.
Her family moved to Afton, Wyo., when she was a child and she always had a great love for Star Valley.
A longtime resident of Price, she stayed in her home until November 1999, when she moved to Salt Lake to live with her daughter. Moved to Beehive Homes in West Jordan in July 2006, where she was living at the time of her death.
Clara was given many gifts and talents and willingly shared them with all who knew her. She loved people, music and service in the church. For many years, she taught children to play the piano and sing.
She had a creative gift and expressed it through oil painting, quilting, knitting and crocheting, poetry, music and writing scripts and music for road shows, assemblies and programs.
Blessed with a beautiful soprano voice, she sang at innumerable funerals, weddings and community functions. The week before her stroke, she was still playing the piano at Beehive Homes to entertain and brighten the lives of others.
Her goal in life was always to brighten someone’s day, to make them feel good and be happy. Her wish was that no one would be sad at her passing, but that we would celebrate her life.
Survived by two sons and a daughter, David Byron (Carol) Thompson, John Theron (Judy) Thompson, Linda (Gerald) Asay; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. As the youngest of seven children in her family, she was the last and longest living.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Victor and Valorie Clark and all the staff at Beehive Homes, West Jordan, for the wonderful care they gave to our mom. Also, love Hospice Care for their kind and considerate help during the last week of her life.
Thank you, Clara, for a life well lived, a great example given and a bright beacon light to follow.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 29, at 11 a.m. at the Bennion 14th LDS Ward Chapel, 6540 South 2700 West, Taylorsville. Friends and family may gather at the church from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. to enjoy reminiscing about the life of Clara. Interment, Ephraim City Cemetery.
Terry Ezell
ST. GEORGE/PRICE – Terry Ezell was an awesome man of God, loving husband, providing father, great-grandpa and a great, great friend to everyone who knew him. Terry passed away Dec. 22, 2007 at the age of 58 in St. George due to an onoing battle with lung disease.
He was blessed to be born June 13, 1949 to Milton Ezell and Muriel Jones in Alabama.On July 18, 1981, Terry married Jodie Lee from Price. He loved her so much.
Terry was a boilermaker for nearly 35 years and traveled to almost every state, then he retired in 2004.
He enjoyed playing golf with everyone, especially his sons and the old timers in Price.
Terry had a passionate heart for the jail ministry he was able to do while still in Price.
Terry was a member of New Life Ministries for many years before moving to St. George.
When Terry gave his heart to the Lord, God opened his eyes and his understanding that Jesus was who he said he was and that became more real to him than life itself.
Knowing about Jesus is different than experiencing Jesus and Terry experienced Jesus. It changed his life from that moment on.
The true blessings of Terry’s life were his wife, children, grandchildren, son-in-law and daughter-in-law as well as the rest of his family.
We will never forget your unconditional love, honey.
Survived by wife, Jodie Ezell, St. George; parents, Joyce and Milton Ezell, Louisiana; Muriel Jones, Louisiana; Dale and Laraine Lee, Price; daughter, Corin (Nathan) Howerton; sons, James (Chelly) Ezell, Brian Ezell, St. George; grandchildren Deidra Vigil, Shayley Dunn, Isaac and Alex Ezell, Bry’Lee, Thomas and Lily Howerton and Taviana Quintana; five precious sisters Lynda, Patti, Cindy, Nina and Bonnie; along with three wonderful brothers, Greg, Barry and Pete. Terry had many loving nieces, nephews and extended family. Preceded in death by one brother, Ronnie Ezell.
Services will be Monday, Dec. 31, at noon at Mitchell’s Chapel. Family will be available one hour prior to service. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery.
Frank ‘Zac’ Zaccaria Jr.
PRICE-Frank Zaccaria Jr., age 94, passed away Dec. 25, 2007.
He was born Jan. 22, 1913 in Sunnyside to Frank Zaccaria Sr. and Antonette Pucci. On July 3, 1939, he married Mary Koukles in Bingham Canyon. They later married in the Greek Orthodox Church.
Frank worked for Kennecott Copper for 42 years, where he was a trackman, boilermaker helper and welder. When he retired he was the maintenance, planning and scheduling general foreman.
He was past worshipful master of Canyon Lodge 13, F&AM, member ElKalah Shrine and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite member and past patron of the Martha Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.
Active in sports, he was signed by Ty Cobb to play professional baseball for the San Francisco Seals in the Coast League and held many records as a player.
He was inducted into the Salt Lake City Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1986. He was president of the Utah State Bowlers Association and was president of the Utah Industrial League.
Zac also loved to golf, serving as president of the Copper Club. He had two holes in one during his golf career.
Survived by his nephew, David Zaccaria and family; and special friend, Luane Williams. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; brothers, Steve and Rudy; and sister, Margaret Felice.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29, at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State Street, Salt Lake. Friends may call from 11a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the services. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens, with graveside rites by the Canyon Lodge 13 F&AM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Shriners Hospital in Salt Lake City.
