The Carbon Dinos struggled to move the ball once they got into the red zone on Friday against the Delta Rabbits. The Dinos had the same problem in earlier game against the Emery Spartans.

Good defense, but ineffective offense led the Dinos to a 21-0 loss against Delta on Friday night.
The Carbon defense allowed two touchdowns in the game, both in the first quarter of play before buckling down to hold the Rabbits scoreless the rest of the game. Delta’s only other touchdown came against the offense on an interception in the third quarter of play.
The Dino offense had their chances in the game. The team moved the ball into the red zone and were within five yards of their goal at least four times in the game, but came away empty handed each time. “Same old theme,” summed up coach Tiller. “We got down early then bounced back. But even though we got into the red zone four times, penalties and turnovers killed us.”
Tiller also remarked that despite the loss, this was a good game. He is glad the community remains behind the team. Turning the ship around takes time and they are making headway. “These kids are giving everything they have. They don’t lay down when they are behind and they play hard until the last whistle sounds. I wouldn’t trade this bunch for anyone else.”
Tiller knows that they are all a bit frustrated with the lack of scoring. He is not sure if it is his play calling or a lack of execution. Maybe a bit of both. But he knows they have to find a way get the scoring done. The defense has come a long way since last season and is making the stops it couldn’t make last year. No one has run the score up on this team this year. The last three games the team has to face will be against teams ranked in the top five.
The team heads back to Dinoland for a home game this Friday night against Union. October 12 will pit them against Juan Diego and then they will play their final game of the season on the road against North Sanpete on October 18th.
Friday night’s game will start at 7 p.m. at the Carbon High field.
