Letter to the Editor: Truth about Global Warming

By Sun Advocate

Editor:
Summer is coming and it is time for the global warming debate to heat up. We are constantly surrounded by news articles, documentaries, and books about the issue. But what these articles fail to do is present both sides of the issue.
The media wants you to believe that we are on a collision course with destiny, and that destiny is the destruction of the world. But I hope to enlighten a few people on the other side of the global warming discussion.
Most people believe the media when they say that warming is caused by human produced emissions and the burning of fossil fuels. They offer immense amounts of data that connects CO2 to the increase in global temperatures. It is true that the two are connected quite closely, but an increase in global temperatures over the last 1000 years has actually led to the rise in CO2. Data shows that temperature increases decades before the CO2 levels rise. They also forget to mention that the world has already experienced an ice age and other eras when the global temperatures were tropic like. And that was long before man was producing steel, power, and combustion engines. So how is that explained.
Another thing “activists” like to push on us is the amazing invention of the hydrogen burning engine. The hydrogen burning engine is a combustion engine whose only emission is water vapor. If we use these engines we can stop global warming, right? Wrong. There are many green-house gases. Water vapor is a major green house gas. It actually makes up 95 percent of the green-house gases in the atmosphere. Hydrogen is also very expensive and energy consuming to extract and condense for use in these engines. So we would still be creating green-house gases through the burning and production of hydrogen. But you never hear that.
We should never take anyone’s word for it. Become educated in all the issues that face us. We should always think scientifically and question everything until we learn for ourselves what the truth is. Just because it is a popular belief doesn’t mean it is true. Maybe if everyone didn’t buy into global warming the price of gasoline wouldn’t have been able to skyrocket like it has.
