A Carbon County land owner conducts a controlled burn at a field near Mont Harmon Junior High early Sunday morning. Field and ditch burnoffs are common during the spring season across the Castle Valley region. The smoke from the controlled fires frequently often draw the attention local residents. An open burn policy will remain in effect in unincorporated areas of Carbon County until May 1. After the designated deadline date, permits to conduct controlled burns at unincorporated locations in the county must be issued by the state fire warden.
