Tyler Kepkay goes up for an easy bucket after a steal.

Hoping to make a move in the Scenic West Athletic Conference standings, College of Eastern Utah found themselves sitting in fourth place in the SWAC after ending up on the losing end of two games this weekend. Friday was a good second half effort by the Badgers that let down the Eagles 73-61. On Saturday night the Badgers got the win by a mere one point with a 75-74 overtime victory.
Friday’s game saw the Eagles jump out on top of the Badgers by three in the first. Poor shooting and a good Badger offense let Snow take the game.
Tyler Kepkay was unusually quiet hitting only 21 points on the night. Anthony Oliver led the scoring for CEU with 26. Felix Casperi pulled in seven rebounds in 15 minutes of play.
On Saturday CEU continued its cold shooting in the first half. They were in a 13 point hole by the end of the half. But defense was the key as they held Snow to 25 second half points to wipe away the deficit in the second half. At the end of regulation the score was knotted up at 66. One point was all it took to down the Eagles for the second straight night as Snow scored nine to CEU’s eight in the final period.
Kepkay got back on track with 31 points. The team also stepped up their rebounding efforts off the boards. Kepkay and Steve Hassell pulled in seven. Oliver and Eric Deardon snagged six each.
The last chance to see the Eagles play will be this weekend against Northern Idaho. There are only four regular season games left before the SWAC tournament. Games start at 7:30 p.m.
