Carbon sheriff encourages residents to support state law enforcement campaign

By Sun Advocate

Responding to the increasing number of people wanting to assist law enforcement officials and build a stronger partnership in the fight against crime, Sheriff James Cordova encourages Carbon County citizens to become honorary members of the Utah Sheriffs Association.
Membership appeals will go out in the mail shortly, pointed out Cordova.
Funding from the membership fees provides critically important technical resources, training, and legislative support on key criminal justice issues.
Contributions are tax-deductible.
“With government funding becoming increasingly difficult to secure, the membership drive has taken on greater importance than ever before,” said Cordova. “The funding is vital to helping us carry out our mission of making our communities safer places to life, work and play.”
Local residents interested in supporting the law enforcement campaign, but who do not receive membership appeals in the mail may obtain information about the program by contacting the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office in Price.
Carbon County residents may also contact the Utah Sheriffs’ Association at 1169 E. Mesa Vista Drive, Ivins, UT 84738.
The state law enforcement organization may be reached by telephone 435-674-5935.
Information is also available online to local residents with Internet access a twww.utahsheriffs.com.
The membership program was formed to provide citizens with an opportunity to lend their support to more effective law enforcement and to help local law enforcement officers protect the lives and property of citizens.
“As the need for building stronger public-private law enforcement partnerships in this country continues to escalate, programs such as this continue to grow in importance,” said Cordova. “I encourage everyone receiving a membership appeal to consider joining forces with us by becoming an Honorary Member. It is a valuable investment in the future.”
