Letter to the Editor: Stop and find owner

By Sun Advocate

Editor:
Last week my Yorkshire Terrier was hit and killed by someone in front of my home in Spring Glen.
I do not believe she was hit purposefully, it was dark and she was in the road. However, it would have been nice if the person who hit her would have had the decency to come knock on my door and let me know they hit her.
I looked out my window and saw that someone had stopped in front of my home, I turned the porch light on and came outside just as they were driving away. Whoever hit her knew they had hit her because they stopped and backed up. It was very obvious she was not a stray she was groomed and was wearing a collar and tag with her name, and my address and phone number.
Luckily I was able to get her out of the road before she was hit again or my five year old son saw her. She was my son’s dog and he was heartbroken. She was killed instantly and I’m thankful she was not hit and left in the road to suffer.
I would like to remind people if you hit an animal try and find the owner. Although I would still have been upset it would have been nice to know that whoever killed her had done it accidentally, and that they were sorry.
