Carbon County Recreation is currently taking registrations for their youth basketball programs that will begin in December.
Junior Jazz will dominate CCR’s winter lineup. There are separate leagues for both boys and girls beginning in the third grade and continuing through grade 12.
The long time program is a favorite amongst youngsters throughout Utah, and particularly in Carbon County.
According to CCR’s assistant director Frank Ori, parents should sign their children up as soon as possible.
“Gym space is becoming more and more limited,” he stated. “We find ourselves scheduling and rescheduling time after time with the different schools trying to accommodate as many activities as possible. It has really become a problem but we always find a way to make it work. If I were a parent I would sign my child up as soon as possible. Some leagues can only handle a limited number of kids due to gymnasium restrictions.”
The deadline for registration for children grades third to sixth grade is Nov. 7. CCR has extended the registration deadline for grades seven to 12 to allow additional time for children who would like to try out for the junior high and Carbon High basketball teams.
The deadline for registration for grades seven through 12 is Dec. 19. Volunteer coaches and scorekeepers are also needed for Junior Jazz.
Registrations can be made in person at CCR’s office located at 81 North 200 East in the Community Development Complex or by mail at P.O. Box 793 Price, Utah 84501. For more information about Junior Jazz parents can call 637-5092 or check out the CCR website at www.carbonrec.com.
