Iris Howe aka “Cowboy Murder’n Maude” tells the troops that safety is first. Cowboy action shooting is one of the fastest growing sports in all competitive shooting. Competitors use replica guns from a period ranging from 1860-1890 to speed shoot targets in an “old west” style setting. During the “barbershop” stage Sunday state champion Bob Marshal aka “Hobble Creek Marshal” discharged 10 pistol rounds, 10 rifle rounds and 4 shotgun blasts in just over 24 seconds without a single miss. The local group titled the Castle Gate Posse will be featured in an article for Shoot Magazine this spring. Feature writers Ray Walters aka “Smith n’ Jones” and his wife, Lana aka “Marshals Lady” were in attendance on Sunday.
