Carbon’s Jordan Moynier has the ball but doesn’t beat his Juan Diego opponent to the base in time during the game on Thursday.

It was a season of what could have beens. If they would have beat Emery, if they would have beat Juan Diego even once.
But in the end Carbon faces a tie for third place in Region 8 play and will have to travel to play their first game in the state tournament.
After winning so many region crowns for so many years, the Carbon Dinos went down in the next to last regularly scheduled game of the season with a 8-6 loss and thus propelling themselves into the state tournament with a less than stellar record.
But as in all games there is always tomorrow.
A usually reliable Adam Martinez took the mound at the beginning of the game. Juan Diego jumped out early with five runs before the first was over. Martinez then settled down and was able to hold the Eagles for another inning before feeling a pop in his elbow that forced him out of the game.
Tyler Turcasso came on to close the inning.
The Dinos began to slowly climb back into the game with a run in the fourth and fifth. The Eagles added a run in the sixth to push their total to six on the scoreboard.
As the Dinos headed into the bottom of the sixth, they knew time was running out. They exploded with four runs to tie up the game.
Unfortunately they could not stop Juan Diego from putting two more runs across home plate in the seventh.
With no answer from the Dino bats, Juan Diego left with a two way tie with Delta for first place and Carbon dropping to a two way tie with Emery for third.
That same day Delta had put the stops on the Spartans and put them out of first place contention as well.
Carbon was to play Union in a non-league game on Monday but that game was cancelled because Union was involved in a playoff game.So now the Dinos head off to Tooele, the school that is hosting the first round of the playoffs.
They will first play Uintah, then depending on whether they win or lose they will play a second round game too.
This is a different format than in years past when the first playoff game was single elimination.
