Paige Pinedo lets go of a pitch during a recent game on Carbon’s home field.

Wanting a win badly, the Carbon softball team traveled down to Emery Thursday afternoon.
It has been a dismal season for the Lady Dinos, not having won one league game. But after Friday, they only thing they can do now is play the spoiler as they lost to the Lady Spartans 4-0.
Paige Pinedo took the mound for Carbon determined to hold the Spartans and give Carbon a victory.
The Spartans only pushed one run across in the first and it looked like the Dinos had a chance.
Spartan pitcher Leslee Lake was also determined not to let any runs across. She proved too much for the Carbon squad as they could not manage even a single off of her until the seventh inning.
Emery sent three home in the third but were not able to score any more off of Pinedo.
The Carbon girls had no time to regroup before heading to Olympus High for a tournament. There they faced Olympus and Brighton, but could not pick up a victory in either game in Salt Lake either. They lost first to the Lady Titans, 11-6 and then fell to Brighton 17-4.
Carbon did manage 10 hits against the strong Olympus team. They just could not string enough together to put runs on the board.
Brighton pounded Carbon with the 17 runs and played good defense agains the Lady Dinos.
With the season drawing toward the end, Carbon has a chance to play the spoiler on two occasions this week.
First the Lady Dinos meet up with North Sanpete this afternoon (Tuesday). North Sanpete is sitting alone in the standings at 8-0, at the top of Region 8. That would be a very sweet win if the Dinos could pull it off
Next the Dinos can play spoiler too if they can knock off Juan Diego on Thursday in Salt Lake.
The Lady Screaming Eagles are in second place with Emery right on their tail.
