Carbon’s JJ Blue heads back to first base as Granite’s pitcher tries to hit his first baseman with a throw to get the Dino player out during Friday’s game.

The last time Carbon met Granite it was a rainy day in Salt Lake and the rain that was coming down just wasn’t water. It was baseballs as well as Carbon destroyed the Farmers 14-0.
On Friday afternoon in Price, the weather was as perfect as it could be for the American pasttime. But for Granite it was still a deluge as they could only half the Dinos first game total and lost 7-1 in their first and final appearance on the Carbon home field.
It was a satisfying win for the Region 8 third place Dinos, who the week before had lost their first league game of the season, 7-4 against the other new entry into the league, Juan Diego.
During the game the only opponent the Dinos seemed to have was a wayward second base bag that kept losing it’s grip on the ground. At one point a Carbon runner almost missed the safety of the base as it was ripped out of the ground. Some shovel work by the coaches however fixed the situation, after which nothing stood in Carbon’s way.
At bat and a terror against the Granite pitching staff was Kyle Asay who not only went 3-4 at the plate with four RBI’s but who also added a home run which really took the wind out of any Farmer hopes of victory.
In addition catcher Bradey Wilde added a double to the damage as well.
The win on the game went to Adam Martinez, who mostly befuddled Granite’s offense.
Granite actually had the lead for a while in the second as they scored at the top of the inning. But Carbon came right back and put three across the plate, then the Dinos added four more with one in the fourth, another in the fifth, and two in the sixth.
The Dinos now play second place Delta in Price today (Tuesday). Delta leads Carbon more by virtue of percentages than by record (Delta is 3-1 while Carbon by virtue of playing one more game so far is 4-2).
A win would put Carbon back in second place.
