PRICE – The Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) is planning a number of administrative checkpoints this spring, summer and fall. Checkpoints, formerly known as roadblocks, provide a means for contacting fishermen and hunters along the state’s roads and highways.
Checkpoints provide the DWR with the opportunity to monitor compliance with fishing and hunting regulations and to collect important biological data. Where necessary, citations can be written, and illegally-taken fish and game can be seized. Non-wildlife laws can also be addressed as they are enccountered.
It is the responsibility of the DWR to protect, conserve and manage the state’s wildlife. Law enforcement curbs poaching, over-limits of fish and game, and other activities harmful to wildlife. By so doing, the DWR is able to better fulfill its mission as stewards of our wildlife heritage.
