A non-scoring first quarter led to the demise of the East Carbon Vikings when they played the West Desert Hawks in Trout Creek last Friday night, as they lost 70-41.
While high scoring Kyle Leonard got 19 points for the Vikings, the team just couldn’t hit a basket in the first quarter as the Hawks went up 26-0.
The second quarter was a lot better, but still disastrous for the kids from East Carbon when they put in 15 points, but the West Desert team scored 24, leading to a 50-15 lead at the half.
In the second half it was East Carbon that led out and won both quarters, but the point totals were not near enough to be a threat to the Hawks. While they only scored 20 points in the entire half, East Carbon was putting up 26.
