College of Eastern Utah’s Gallery East is sponsoring its first annual high school art competition.
The juried show features the best and latest works by over 80 students from 24 high schools. The show, which runs through the January 24, is free and open to the public Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
A reception for the opening of the exhibit and for the public to meet the student artists is set for Friday, January 7 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the gallery.
The main goal of this exhibit is to provide encouragement and support to young people who exhibit exceptional artistic skills by acknowledging their efforts, and rewarding their finest accomplishments.
Student work will be judged on creativity, technical skill and sense of style. Awards for the show include a full-time CEU Art Department tuition scholarship, and over $500 in cash awards.
