•Abajo Mountains – Fishing has been good at Foy Reservoir with corn or worm-flavored Zeke’s, floating off the bottom. Fishing conditions at Monticello Reservoir have ranged from good to excellent early and late with jigs and Daredevil spinners. At midday, Zeke’s garlic bait or salmon eggs seems to work best.
Blanding 3 and Blanding 4 Reservoirs offer good to excellent fishing respectively. Zeke’s garlic and salmon eggs have been the most effective fish-getters at Blanding 3, while white marshmallows or Zeke’s chartreuse cheese bait has worked best at Blanding 4.
•Benches Reservoir – Todd Munford of Big Pine Sports in Fairview reported fair fishing with salmon egg and nightcrawler combos. Fast-stripping brown leech patterns was moderately successful. One dedicated hunter reported orange, green and yellow PowerBait to be effective for planter-size fish.
•Blue Lake – (by Grassy Lake) Little or no angler pressure.
•Boulger Reservoir – Fishing has been good with rainbow PowerBait about 18 inches in front of a bubble three-fourths full of water. Fly fishermen have had luck trolling olive crystal buggers.
•Cleveland Reservoir – Fishing success has ranged from slow to good. PowerBait in the early morning seems best. Munford recommends corn or yellow PowerBait. Trollers have done okay with Panther Martins or copper Vibrax spinners. In the evenings, try red crystal buggers on sinking line.
•Duck Fork Reservoir – Catch-and-release fishing has been good for cutthroat trout using a fly and bubble. Brown nymphs or black gnats are recommended. Tiger trout are only about four inches long right now. Only artificial flies or lures may be used.
•Electric Lake – Fishing is very spotty. Munford suggests trying rainbow PowerBait or dead minnows. Fly fishing in the north inlet can be good with small dry flies, such as an 18 para Adams or a 16 blue wing olives. Presentation must be delicate. Crystal buggers can be effective early and late in the day.
•Fairview Lakes – Conservation Officer Jay Topham reports good fishing at Fairview Lakes and said about any kind of bait is working. Todd Munford recommends Zeke’s Sierra gold or chartreuse PowerBait. Black or brown leech patterns in the evening are effective.
•Ferron Reservoir – Fly fishermen had good luck with a blue Dunn. Pop gear and worms worked well for trollers. Shoreline anglers have done well with worms. The trout limit is four, but anglers may take a bonus limit of four brookies.
•Gigliotti Pond – Last week, the DWR and Castle Country Bassmasters planted 600-700 bluegills and several dozen bass into the pond. The pond was also stocked in early July with 5,000 rainbow trout.
•Gooseberry Reservoir – Fishing has been fair to good with yellow PowerBait with a bubble three-fourths full of water, says dedicated hunter Randy Brady. Fast-stripping brown leech patterns or olive crystal buggers from a pontoon or tube has been good.
•Grassy Lake – Fishing continues to be fair for 12-inch trout with artificial flies or cheese bait.
•Huntington Creek – In the fly-only zone, the best patterns have been the Montana, renegade, and prince nymph. Further down stream, the following patterns are recommended: para Adams, orange stimulators, or red humpies. Left fork fishing is good with an elk hair caddis or Goddard caddis. Conservation Officer Mike Milburn described fishing as fair for anglers using spinners and nightcrawlers.
•Huntington Reservoir – Fishing has been slow to fair. Try worms or PowerBait about 18 inches from a full bubble of water. Munford recommends fishing the west shoreline in the evening. Slowly cast and retrieve gold Jake’s or nightcrawlers. Fly fishing in the morning has been fair with red crystal buggers. The reservoir is closed to the possession of cutthroat trout and trout with cutthroat markings.
•Joes Valley Reservoir – Fishing continues to range between fair and poor. Splake as large as 15 lbs. are known to exist in the reservoir, according to biologists, who also report a fair number of seven pounders. The trout limit is two; only one over 22 inches; all trout from 15-22 inches must be immediately released.
•Lasal Mountains – Sergeant Edward Meyers reports that fishing at all LaSal Mountain lakes remains fair to good. Oowah has been especially good with salmon eggs, worms, and spinners. Meyers urges anglers to handle fish gently if they intend to release them. Dedicated hunter Travis Clark said that he saw a lot of fish being caught on PowerBait or a nightcrawler under a bubble. Clark indicates Panther Martin spinners were also producing some fish. Don’s and Warner have been slow. Hidden Lake has been fair with eggs or PowerBait. Medicine Lake has been fair. Some fish have been caught on green PowerBait and a bubble as well as a worm under a bubble. Ken’s Lake has been fair to good in the evenings with traditional baits. Catfishing on the Colorado has been good to excellent with worms, shrimp and liver.
•Miller Flat Reservior – Milburn reported slow fishing, but said two men caught six rainbows with nightcrawlers, suspended just off the bottom with PowerBait. Another angler reported fair fishing with red salmon eggs on the southeast side. Fly fishermen have been doing fairly well by slow-trolling red crystal buggers.
•Millsite State Park – Dedicated hunter James Kulow Sr., reported excellent fishing with green PowerBait tipped with a worm. Trollers were having luck with pop gear. Fly fishermen did well with renegades and royal coachmen patterns.
•Pete’s Hole – Fishing has been fair with worms or PowerBait.
•Potters Ponds – Travis Rauhala reported excellent fishing with PowerBait, salmon eggs, worms, Panther Martins or silver fish. Other reports have come in suggesting spring green or rainbow PowerBait. A fly and bubble using a royal coachman has been effective.
•Scofield Reservoir – Fishing has been fair to good. Dead redside minnows on slip sinkers have been the best bait. Trolling with pop gear and worm or with a green flat fish or an orange Panther Martin have been best. Yellow and red spinners have done well.
