ConocoPhillips hosted an open house a month ago honoring their employees with on of the highest safety awards available in the company. Local manager Carey Farmer was pleased to announce that ConocoPhillips, a gas exploration company in the region since 2001 had zero injuries in 2003, an incredible improvement over previous years. Besides local employees, corporate officials from Houston, Texas were on hand to make the presentation.
ConocoPhillips came into the area in 2001, following the purchase from River Gas from Phillips Petroleum and then the later merging with Conoco. They have 50 local employees and maintain 490 wells in the two county area. There were 16 injuries in 2000, but this number was reduced to 14 in 2001 and only seven in 2002. Then in 2003 they had two injuries, followed by the perfect record this past year.
“Safety is a priority in every job,” said Farmer, as he addressed the employees. The celebration is truly a magnificent step. We have made phenomenal strides,” he added.
