The Utah Department of Transportation advises motorists that a road construction project on U.S. Highway 6 will delay travel through a nine-mile section of the corridor by up to 20 minutes from July 19 through August 12.
Planned lane closures include eastbound as well as the westbound lanes. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in alternating directions for up to 2 miles as directed by flaggers and pilot cars. Expected delays will be 10 to 20 minutes in each direction.
Lane closures are necessary to place a “bonded wearing course” pavement on U.S. 6 from mile marker 222 to 231 (near the port of entry). The wearing course is part of UDOT’s road maintenance program and will extend the pavement life of this section of road.
Construction schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather, equipment challenges, or other construction delays. UDOT encourages motorists to use extreme caution when traveling through construction zones and to be patient with work crews as this vital roadwork is completed.
The hours in which this operation will be taking place run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday during the more than three weeks of construction.
