Eleanor Yakovich


PRICE – Eleanor Yakovich, age 81, passed away Feb. 1, 2004 at her home in Price.
Eleanor was born July 3, 1922 in Walsenburg, Colo., to John Butkovich and Frances Ferkovich. She was very proud of her Croatian heritage.
During the 1950s and 60s, Eleanor managed the Carbon Country Club in Price and the Dinaland Country Club in Vernal. Following a move to Roosevelt, she was a buyer for the JC Penney store in Roosevelt.
Upon her retirement, Eleanor returned to Price to begin a new career, that of helping to provide a home and care for her great-grandsons, David and Pete Yakovich.
She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother as well as a great beauty and wonderful cook.
Eleanor is survived by former husband, David Yakovich, Gusher; daughter, Darlene (Tom) Sessions, Upland, Calif.; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; sisters, Alma Irene Wilcox, Salt Lake City; Ann Sudar, Walsenburg, Colo.; brother, Rudy Shubart, Durango, Colo.; sisters-in-law, Florence Butkovich and Myrtle Shubert; and nieces and nephews each of whom she was very fond and proud of. Preceded in death by parents; and son, David G. Yakovich Jr.
Graveside service was Feb. 4, at Mountain View Cemetery, Helper.


Delta Fennell


EAST CARBON – Delta Schrum Bass Fennell, age 86, passed away Feb. 2, 2004 in East Carbon.
Born in July 23, 1917 in Omaha, Ark., to John and Rosa Garver Schrum. Married Henry Bass in 1933, and he later passed away in 1939. Married Charles W. Fennell Dec. 19, 1945 in Denver, Colo. He died Dec. 4, 1972.
Lifelong member of the Pentecostal Church. Resident of East Carbon since 1947. Delta enjoyed music, roses and her greatest love was her grandchildren.
Survived by sons, Edward Lee Bass, Red Bluff, Calif.; Bob (Virginia) Bass, East Carbon; sister, Lee Eaton, Ft. Worth, Texas; brothers, Ben Schrum, Grand Junction, Colo.; Sherman Schrum, Idaho; six loving grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents; twin sister, Della; sister, Clarasie; brother, Fred; and granddaughter, Vivian Tippit.
Graveside service, Friday, Feb. 6, 2 p.m., Orchard Mesa Cemetery, Grand Junction, Colo., under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.
