Dustin Basso
WELLINGTON – Our loving son, grandson, friend and hunting partner, Dustin James Basso, age 16, went to be with his Heavenly Father on January 24, 2004.
He was born April 13, 1987 in Price to Kevin and Tammie Edgell Basso.
Dustin loved hunting, fishing and especially 4-wheeling in his truck. He was the happiest when it was time for the elk hunt. Dustin was a friendly and caring person who loved life. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. “We’ll see you when we meet you in Heaven. You are loved very much.”
Survived by parents, Tammie and Kevin Basso Sr.; sisters, Amanda Basso, Amber Jensen and Ashley Daniels; brother, Kevin Basso Jr.; maternal grandparents, Sarah Huggins and Roy Edgell; paternal grandparents, Ann Byerley and James Basso; four nieces, one nephew; many cousins and good friends, John, Josh and Lance “Geebes”.
Funeral service Wednesday, Jan. 28, 11 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to service. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery, Price.
Jacklyn Jones
FERRON – Our beloved Jacklyn “Jackie” Letha Coley Jones passed away suddenly on Jan. 22, 2004 at the age of 62.
She was born Sept. 2, 1941 in Las Vegas, Nev., to Donald R. and Martha Jane Bradley Coley. She married Walter “Wally” A. Jones Sept. 16, 1961 in Las Vegas, Nev.
She enjoyed growing flowers, crafts, traveling, and her friends. Jackie also loved playing bonco, and especially loved her grandchildren. She was a member of the LDS Church and served faithfully as a visiting teacher. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by husband, Wally Jones of Ferron; son, Wally (Julie) Jones of Mountain View, Wyo.; daughter, Lori (Brian) Thorn of Springville; son-in-law, Wayne Huntsman of Ferron; 12 grandchildren; mother, Martha Coley; and brother Donnie Coley, both of Ferron. She was preceded in death by daughter, Karen Huntsman; father, Donald Coley; and brother, Michael Coley.
A viewing will be held at the Millsite LDS Ward Chapel in Ferron Tuesday, Jan. 27, 10 to 11 a.m. Funeral services will follow in the chapel at 11:30 a.m. with interment to be held in the Ferron Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Jon “Kip” Draper
ORANGEVILLE – Much loved father, son, husband and brother, Jon Christopher “Kip” Draper, died January 25, 2004, in Orangeville, doing what he loved…working and playing outdoors.
Kip was born June 3, 1963 in Paris, France, but spent his childhood and youth growing up in Centerville, graduating from Viewmont High School in 1981. He went on to earn a degree in fisheries biology from Utah State University.
An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kip served a mission in the Canada Calgary mission. He loved the church and had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ. His family meant everything to him and he cherished the times he spent with them. He loved teaching his kids to hunt and fish. It was important to him that they learned to love and appreciate nature like he did.
At the time of his death Kip was a conservation officer for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.
Kip is survived by his wife, Cindy Albrechtsen Draper; children, Ryan, Whitney, Tappan, Kaden and Madison, who will miss him more than words can say. Also survived by mother, Patricia Draper; grandmother, Opal O’Rourke; brothers, Doug (Lora), Rick (Laurel), Tim (Diana) and Tad (Melaney); in laws, Udell and Clara Albrechtsen. Preceded in death by his father, Theron “Rusty” Draper DDS.
Although Kip tried to appear tough on the outside, the mischievous grin and sparkle in his eye revealed the real marshmallow he was on the inside. (He would hate us for saying that.) We love you Kip and will miss you always.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 29, 10:30 a.m., in the Orangeville LDS Third Ward. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale, 720 North Center Street and one hour prior to services at the ward house. Burial, Centerville Cemetery, 650 East 400 South in Centerville, 3 pm January 29.
Jacob Jorgensen
CASTLE DALE – Jacob Gale Jorgensen, one of our Father in Heaven’s most choice sons, passed away tragically in a mining accident and is now about his Father’s work on Jan. 22, 2004.
Jake was born in Price on May 22, 1974 to Allen Gale and Mary Ann Jones Jorgensen. Jake met the love of his life, Julie Edmunds and they were sealed for time and all eternity on July 26, 1996 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were blessed with three special ranch hands: Jaxon, age six; Joshua, age three; and Jordan, age one.
He spent his life in Castle Dale doing what he loved; ranching and spending many happy hours in the outdoors with his family. He enjoyed a special bond with his dad with, whom he worked side by side. Jake loved to laugh and could find joy in everything.
Jake served an honorable mission in the Virginia, Richmond Mission for the LDS Church. He loved the Gospel where he served faithfully with the youth, whom he dearly loved. Beloved husband, father, son and brother, who will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by loving wife, three sons; parents; brothers, James, Joseph (LaNae); sisters, Phyllis (George) Patlan, Adella, Liesl (Benjamin) West, and Lucile (Kirk) Robinson; loving in-laws; three nephews; and his special horse, Pucker.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Jan. 27, 11 a.m., in the Castle Dale LDS Stake Center. Friends may call Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. in the relief society room of the Castle Dale LDS Stake Center and one hour prior to services. Burial, Castle Dale Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Alton Jensen
PRICE – Alton Lavar Jensen, 75, passed away Jan. 21, 2004 at his home in Price.
He was born May 22, 1928 in Huntington, to John Alferd Jensen and Ila Woolman.
He was raised in Huntington and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he received two purple hearts, and a cluster medal. Alton enjoyed dancing, hiking in the mountains, and working with the senior citizens in Price for many years. He was an active elder in the LDS Church.
He is survived by son, Rick Jensen of Toledo, Ohio; brothers, Jim Jensen of Castle Dale, Vernon Jensen of Huntington, Keith Jensen of Roosevelt; and sisters, Merle Henley of Oliver Springs, Tenn., Rita Alderson of Price, Karen Marthaler of Detroit Lakes, Minn., and Ruby of Green Forest, Ark. Alton is also survived by special friend, Phebe Peterson of Wellington.
Graveside services were on Jan. 24 in the Huntington City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
