Ray Anderton
HELPER – Ray Dewaine Anderton, 89, passed away Jan. 5, 2004 at Castleview Hospital after a short illness.
Born Feb. 27, 1914 in Elsinore, to James and Clara Nunley Anderton, raised in Elsinore by his grandparents, Walter and Sarah Nunley with his cousin, Lela. He married Cathaleen Mae Dunn Sept. 30, 1943 in Salt Lake City. Later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple in 1954.
Ray worked for the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad for 44 years as a locomotive engineer and fireman, retiring in January 1979. He was active in the Lions Club for many years. He held many offices including district governor in 1979 and 1980. He was active in the LDS Church serving in three bishoprics and three high councils and served as branch president at Scofield for two years.
Ray is survived by wife of 60 years; sons, Ray Dee (Veda) Anderson of Allen, Texas; Russell Shane (Michelle) Anderton of West Jordan; twin daughters, LaRayne (Max) Davis of Price; and LaRay (Ray) Cook of Roosevelt. He also raised Marilyn Blake of Moundsville, W. Va. Also survived by brothers, Ronald (Muriel) and Ted (Norma) Anderton; sisters, Carol Latturner and Sally (Ken) Huffman; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by daughter, Phyllis Anderton; parents; grandparents; brother, Bob Anderton; and sister, Faye O’Neil.
Funeral services will be Friday, Jan. 9, 1 p.m., at the Helper LDS Stake Center, 150 Ridgeway St., Helper. Friends may call Fausett Mortuary, 680 E. 100 South, Price, Thursday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. also one hour prior to services at the church. Interment, Mountain View Cemetery, Helper.
Mark Greenland
KELSO, Wash. – Mark Alfred Greenland, 38 of Kelso, Wash., died Jan. 2, 2004.
He was born June 7, 1965 in Salt Lake City.
Lived in Longview for 12 years, coming from Ridgecrest, Calif. Graduated from high school in Ridgecrest, Calif.
He worked at Longview Fiber for the last nine years as a papermaker. He enjoyed working with his hands and was a perfectionist.
He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. His greatest joy was his son, Nicholas. He had a warm personality. He drew people to him and was a strong character.
He was a member of the AWPPW. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years, stationed at Treasure Island.
Survived by son, Nicholas Greenland of Kelso, Wash.; sister, Mary Frances (Bob) Reed, San Rafael, Calif.; parents, Francis and Mary Lee Johnatakis Greenland, Longview, Wash. Also survived by aunts and uncles, Rex and Sue Greenland, John and Joan Johnatakis, Connie and John Kosmack, Betty and Vern Workman, Shirley Cooper, Elaine Norton; many cousins; and two nieces, Shannon and Melissa Red. Preceded in death by grandparents, Simone and Francis Greenland, Jim Johnatakis and Chloe Handley; uncles, Granville Cooper and Carl Norton; aunt, Ann Johnatakis; cousins, Med Norton and Rexo Greenland.
In lieu of service, there will be a visitation for family and friends Friday, Jan. 9, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home in Price. Committal service Saturday, Jan. 10, 3 p.m. at Price City Cemetery under the direction of Steele Chapel of Longview Memorial Park.
Rosetta Trimms
CASTLE GATE/COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Rosetta Huff Trimms, age 80, passed away Dec. 19, 2003 at Colorado Springs, Colo.
She was born Feb. 10, 1923 at Castle Gate, to Charles E. and Anne Warner Huff. She married James H. Trimms May 27, 1944. They were blessed with two children, Harold and Ellen.
Rosetta grew up in Castle Gate. She and her husband lived there until the town was moved to Helper. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Rosetta was a great fan of the Denver Broncos, loved visiting with people and traveling. She loved the camping trips and vacations with her family. Also the good times she had with the LDS Singles group in Grand Junction, Colo.
Survived by daughter, Ellen Barham and friend Jim Campbell, Colorado Spring, Colo.; grandchildren, David Blackham, Penny Blackham, Richard Barham, Marselene Trimms and three great-grandchildren; brothers, Clifford U. Huff, Colorado; Bert Huff, Price; Verl Huff, Helper; and sister, Loa Ann Krompel, Price. Preceded in death by parents; husband, James Trimms; son, Harold and brothers, Bernell and Leon Huff.
Rosetta wanted to be cremated so graveside services will be held at a later date at Mountain View Cemetery, Helper.
Ann Liapis
HELPER – Ann Papazaharis Liapis, “YiaYia”, loving mother, grandmother, devoted friend and “everybody’s YiaYia”, died peacefully Jan. 7, 2004 from cancer.
Born Aug. 27, 1920 in Bingham, to Gust and Anastasia Vouros Papazaharis. Ann married Harry Paul Liapis Aug. 1, 1943.
Ann was a dedicated lifelong member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Price. She graciously served as both a president and member of the Philoptochos Society, and an officer and member of the Ladies of the Nile. She was also a member of the Sassy Ladies and the Price Ladies of Elks. Each year Ann served as co-treasurer of the Price Greek Festival. Ann and Harry enjoyed dancing, traveling and spending time with loved ones. She is remembered by many throughout her life including friends at Cornets, Burt’s Shoe Store and Walker Bank.
Survived by sons, Paul (Judy), Salt Lake City; Gus (Sharon), Dayton, Ohio; grandchildren, Matthew, Andrea (Stephen) Jackson, Philip, Scott, Stephanie and Zachary; nephew, Steve Papazaharis; and is dearly remembered by all those who loved her in the Liapis, Kay, Maxfield and Platis families. She was preceded in death by husband, Harry, Jan, 12, 1988; parents; sisters, Charlene and Eva; and brother, Steve.
A special thanks to the CareSource Hospice Center of Salt Lake and Dr. Glenn Etzel for their compassion and care during the illness of our beloved Ann. We love you Yia Yia and will always remember you! Your memory will be eternal.

Sandy Senor
PRICE – Sanford C. Senor, age 69, passed away Jan. 5, 2004 in a Provo hospital.
Born May 24, 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio to Jerome J. and Margaret K. Deutchslander Senor. Married Jean Moore, later divorced. Married Nikki Nikas August 1977 in Price.
Member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Price where he served as treasurer. Retired from the U.S. military with 15 years of service in the Navy and five years in the U.S. Army. Sandy was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and the Army Commendation Medal. Member of the V.F.W. Miners Post 2379, Price, where he served a quartermaster. Sandy was a longtime resident of Carbon County where he retired from First Interstate Bank. He was a past member of the Kiwanis and Price Elks Lodge 1550.
Sandy dedicated the last seven years as a caregiver to his loving wife, Nikki. As a constant caregiver and a staunch supporter of the Active Re-Entry Caregiver’s Support Group, Sandy shared his support and talents in many articles, caregiver magazines and to people all over the world.
Sandy and his wife enjoyed representing Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus for many of the children and adults in the Carbon County area. Sandy will be dearly missed by all. “May his memory be eternal.”

(Ian) McGee, Orlando, Fla.; sister, Judy (John) Schoger, Lakewood, Ohio; daughter, Antoinette “Toni” (Robert) Mermer, Fresno, Calif.; son, Craig (Peggy) Hobi, Farmingdale, N.Y.; son, Brent (Marie) Hobi, Price; daughter, Renee Hobi, San Diego, Calif.; and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; and brother, Robert Senor.
