Carbon’s Brittani Bentley rockets a spike at her Judge Memorial opponents during Tuesday’s game. The Lady Dinos defeated the Lady Bulldogs in three straight matches at their first home game of the 2003 season.

As part of the homecoming festivities, Carbon volleyball had their first home game against the Judge Memorial Bulldogs Tuesday night.
However, the Bulldogs should have left the bus running; Carbon beat Judge quickly in three straight games.
The first match started slow and service changes were frequent. Carbon pulled out their closest win of the match, 25-17.
“We came out and made some mistakes,” Coach Bruce Bean explained. “Then we took over.”
Carbon went on an 18-1 run in the second game, with Cora Broadbear serving flawlessly. The Bulldogs got a few back before the Dinos put them away, 25-10.
In the third game, Judge battled and kept the score close early on.
But Carbon’s blocking, lead by Brittany Pollastro and Traci Mortensen, staved off any Judge comeback.
The Lady Dinos won the third game 25-14.
“It was nice for the girls to have a match like this because lately they have played some really tough ones,” Bean commented.
Bean said he was pleased with the performance of his team and felt setter Monica Shorts, a junior, and Pollastro, a senior had an especially great match.
Carbon’s next home match is against the Lady Utes on Sept. 9. Varsity game time is 6:30 p.m.
