Lady Dinos had a successful weekend on the soccer field, despite the absence of six players.
The Carbon High soccer team spent the weekend at Grantsville and Tooele for some early season action against tough northern teams. The team came home with a win against Grantsville and a loss to Tooele.
Coach Dave Capalbo attributes the Grantsville win on Friday to player Tabby Cummins.
Cummins, a sophomore who had only played one previous game for Carbon, scored all of the team’s goals in the 3-1 victory.
“The headline should read Tabby 3 Grantsville 1,” Capalbo said.
Cummins said she just had a lucky day.
The Dinos faced Tooele on Saturday.
Tooele had the Lady Dinos down 1-0 at halftime. Tooele added one more goal for a final score of 2-0.
“There were times that only freshmen and sophomores were on the field and they played great,” Capalbo said. “Not bad against a team that made the 3A playoffs last year.”
Carbon ladies soccer plays Granger at home on Wednesday. Varsity kicks off at 3:30 p.m. followed by JV at 5 p.m.
