Twila Hartzel


PRICE – Twila Jane (Mickie) Hayes Hartzel, age 77, passed away July 22, 2003 in Price.
She was born April 25, 1926 in Price to Monroe and Cornelia Nott Hayes. Married Leonard N. Vestal April 14, 1943 in Salt Lake City. He died Jan. 5, 1954. Married John E. Hartzel May 6, 1955 in Grand Junction, Colo.
Member of the LDS Church. She enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, hunting, fishing and all types of crafts.
Mickie was devoted to her family and was a friend to all. She never met a stranger
Mom was always good for a laugh, a hug and a helping hand.
She has left us for a short time, but we will be together again.
Survived by husband, John Hartzel, Price; four children, Louise (Marty) Wilkinson, Salina; John E. (Elena) Hartzel, North Cape May, N.J.; Janet E. (David) Meye, Camdenton, Mo.; Jamie E. Hartzell, Salt Lake City; sister, Oragale Fairbourn, West Valley City; son-in-law, Chuck Echols, Whitefish, Mont.; daughter-in-law, Sharron Vestal, Richardson, Texas; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; two sons, Rodger and Larry Vestal; two daughters, Sharon Stokes and Connie Echols; three brothers, Floyd, Lawrence and Harold; and two sisters, Lila Flores and Alma Parry.
Funeral service Monday, July 28, 1 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Sunday evening, 7 to 8 p.m. and Monday one hour prior to services. Interment, Price City Cemetery.


Terry L. Hampton


PARIS, Idaho – Terry Lynn Hampton, 56, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
She was born Dec. 15, 1946 in Price on a Sunday morning to Mark and Betty Pace Hampton.
She attended the first grade in Price and then the family moved to Sunnyside, where she attended the second through eighth grades. She finished high school in Price.
She lived in Moab and Green-river, Wyo, before moving to Paris, Idaho, in 1982. She lived there since. She was in the hospital in Idaho Falls since March up until the time of her death. She had been paralyzed due to a car accident for the past 26 years.
Terry is survived by her mother, Betty Mortensen of Paris, Idaho; one sister, Marliene (Mike) Sorenson of Idaho Falls, Idaho; two brothers, Arevell “Stubby” (Kate) Burge of Woods Cross; Dale (Gayle) Hampton of Midway; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Mark Ammon Hampton; her stepfather, Nephi Junior Mortensen; and her grandparents.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 28, at 11 a.m. at the Paris LDS Stake Center in Paris, Idaho, under the direction of Matthews Mortuary of Montpelier. Friends may call at the stake center from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will take place Tuesday in the Price City Cemetery at 2 p.m.


Alta Hall


HELPER – Alta Mae Jensen Hall, age 69, passed away July 23, 2003 at her home.
She was born Aug. 4, 1933 in Pleasant Grove to Perry and Clara Edwards Jensen. Alta married Norman Hall May 25, 1951 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
As an active member of the LDS Church, she served in numerous callings, most notably as a church service missionary with her husband in the church employment center.
Alta was a very good homemaker and loved to cook. She taught Weight Watchers for five years.
Alta is survived by husband of 52 years, Norm of Helper; children, Vickie and Dewayne Dean of Salt Lake City; Ronald and Dorothy Hall of Castle Dale; and Gordon and Karla Hall of Price; and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also survived by sisters, Vonda Sauliner and Lorraine Sherwood.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 26, 11 a.m. in the Helper LDS Stake Center. Friends may call Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Mountain View Cemetery, Helper.


Dixie Jamison


PRICE/ROOSEVELT – Dixie Loraine Johnson Jamison, age 73, passed away in her sleep on July 23, 2003 at her home in Price.
She was born Jan. 2, 1930 in Price to Clement Joseph and Cleona Swasey Johnson. Married Doswell A. (Curly) Jamison Nov. 20, 1953 in White Pine, Nev.
Dixie enjoyed household crafts in her younger days, such as paintings, crocheting and other art form.
In her later years, she enjoyed purchasing collectibles and giving them to her grandchildren.
Mom was an animal lover and she always had cats or dogs that were as much a part of the family as her children.
Survived by loving husband, D.A. Jamison, Price; daughter, Jeanne (Daryl) Daniels, Chandler, Ariz.; son, John (Sue) Jamison, Price; sisters, Sis (Bill) Cunning-ham, Mary (Lott) Majors and JoyLynn (Ernie) McFarlane, all of Cleveland; three grandchildren, Craig (Mari) Jamison, Wendy (Tobin) Roberts, Jackie Christensen; and great-grandson, Kobin Roberts. Preceded in death by parents; and three brothers, Jack, Terry and Max Johnson.
Graveside service, Tuesday, July 29, 10 a.m., Cleveland City Cemetery. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home, 233 East Main Street in Price Monday evening from 7 to 8 p.m.


Nascizo (Cecil) Aguirre


OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Cecil Aguirre, 64, passed away peacefully with his best friend, Geneva hMullins, by his side on June 23, 2003 in Oklahoma City, Okla.
He was born May 20, 1938 in Standardville to Catherine Parry and Joe Aguirre.
He served in the U.S. Army was a graduate of Carbon High School 1958.
He is survived by son, Teddy; daughter, Kathy Jo; and sisters, Ramona Sidwell, Spring Glen; and Erma (Louise) James, West Valley City. Preceded in death by mother; father; and brother, Arthur and Stephen Aguirre.
Services were conducted in Oklahoma City, Okla.


William Bass


PRICE/AZUSA, Calif. – William Walter Bass, age 85, passed away in Azusa, Calif.
He was born May 23, 1918 and lived in Price for many years before moving to California.
He was a WWII veteran.
Funeral services were July 17 at Oakdale Memorial Park in Glendale, Calif.


Helen Wilson


SPRING GLEN/DENVER, Colo. – Helen Dolan Wilson, age 93, passed away peacefully in her home in Spring Glen on her birthday, July 22, 2003.
She was born July 22, 1910 in Denver, Colo., to Thomas M. and Julia Nazyark Dolan. Married Howard Joseph Wilson June 17, 1929, he died Oct. 29, 1983.
Survived by daughter, Ardith (Richard) Keppler; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren that she was blessed with. Among the many friends and loved ones Helen also leaves her loving companion, Precious. She was preceded in death by parents; sisters, Lucille and Maimie; daughter, Rita Swope; son-in-law, Bill Swope; and her beloved husband, Howard.
Funeral Mass Saturday, July 26, 10 a.m., at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 5 South Main Street, Helper. Rosary will be Friday evening, 7 p.m., at the church in Helper. Family will be at the church Friday and Saturday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Price City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Rocky Mountain Hospice.


William Coleman


PRICE – William A. Coleman, age 84, passed away July 20, 2003 at his home in Price.
He was born Aug. 12, 1918 in Greenwood, Ark., to Benjamin Franklin and Mary Delilah Allenbaugh Coleman. Married Loraine Goff Aug. 28, 1964 in Ely, Nev. She died March 5, 1986.
Longtime resident of Carbon County, where he retired as a welder from Valley Camp Coal. William was a member of United Mine Workers of America Local 6788 and he proudly displayed his 38 years of service on his hats that he wore.
He was an avid fisherman.
Survived by children, Benny N. Coleman, Enterprise, Ala.; Adabell Allemcesch, Shoshone, Wyo.; Susan Peterson, Rock Springs, Wyo.; Linda Hansen, Green River, Wyo.; Cathy Iriart, St. George; and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside service Friday, July 25, 11 a.m., Price City Cemetery. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home Friday one hour prior to services.
