Black Diamond golf tournament results announced

Despite extremely hot temperatures, golfers from across the state set out on the Carbon Country Golf Course to compete in the annual Black Diamond Open. The event took place July 11 through 13 with 177 amateurs and 34 professionals participating in the two day open event and 26 teams played in the Pro-am on July 11.
According to local golf pro, Tom King Jr., the golf course was in excellent shape for the tournament and many of the competitors made compliments regarding the conditions.
Defending tournament champion, Todd Tanner finished the first round in the lead by shooting a 65, explained King. Tanner was the leader by two over Troy Watkins, Tommy Johnson and Shawn Andreason who shot 37.
On the second and final day of action, Henry White shot a final round of 64 to win the tourney with an eight under total of 132, indicated the local golf pro.
“White was starting on the back nine and shot a five under par 30 after nine holes. When he came to the number one hole, White made an eagle two to take him to seven under par for the day,” King explained. “It looked like White was going for a new course record until he had a couple of bumps coming in and finished six under 64.”
Charlie Philips made a great shot on hole number seven during the tourney as he made a rare double eagle two on a par five.
Ron Gabbitas also had a great shot as he made an eagle two on hole number 14.
