Arnold Skinner
CARBONVILLE – Arnold Marion Skinner, age 88, passed away July 16, 2003 in Price.
He was born Dec. 15, 1914 in Orem, to Alford and Rose Buckler Skinner. He married Willda Pauline Laird Aug. 25, 1935. She passed away in May 2000.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family. He loved working in his beautiful rose garden. He worked in the coal mines for over 50 years and was a member of the UMWA. He was also a member of the LDS Church and BPOE 1550.
Arnold is survived by children, Joyce Marion Freeman (Lonnie Wells), of Kentucky; Phill and Tina Skinner of Price; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also survived by brother, Lyman; and sisters, Ruby Gull and Ina Reeves. In addition to his wife, Arnold was preceded in death by daughter, Karma and six brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 19, 2 p.m., in the Fausett Mortuary Chapel in Price, 680 E. 100 So., where friends may call one hour prior to services. Private burial services will be held in the Provo City Cemetery.
John Palacios
PRICE – John M. Palacios, the apple of our Dad’s eye, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2003 in Hayward, Calif.
This long awaited brother and only son was born July 5, 1964 in Salt Lake City, to John and Carmella Gonzales Palacios.
He grew up in East Carbon, and graduated from high school in 1982. John loved music and was most in his element when listening to Madonna, the Rolling Stones, and Led Zepplin. He had a keen knowledge and love for cars, classic and new.
He leaves behind loving parents, John and Carmella Palacios, Price; sisters, LuJuana Palacios, South Jordan; Patricia Everson, Park City; loving nieces, Tina, Camille, Dannie, Lacey, Kristin, Emily; nephew, Chris; and many loved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.Funeral service Thursday, July 24, 10 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home, 233 East Main St., Price, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Jacob Poss
WELLINGTON – Jacob Lamont Poss, son, brother, husband and father, found peace on Thursday, July 17, 2003 in Wellington.
Jacob was born Jan. 16, 1972 in Vancouver, Wash. to Benjamin and Phyllis Poss. Married Kimberlee Poss Oct. 13, 1999.
Hobbies were writing, drawing, music, computers, fishing and people. He will be missed by all.
Survived by wife, Kimberlee Poss, Wellington; sons, Chandler and Tyler; parents, Benjamin and Phyllis; brothers, Gordon (Dawn) Poss, Price; Benjamin Poss Jr., Wellington; Wayne (Sherry) Poss, Montrose, Colo.; and sister, Reba Frazier, Montrose, Colo.; 12 nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Memorial Services will be Tuesday, July 22, 3 p.m. at Wellington LDS Stake Center.
Marcel Blanc
PRICE – Marcel Blanc, age 77, passed away July 19, 2003 at his home in Price.
He was born May 23, 1926 in Price, to Martin Pierre and Yvonne Sanbourg Blanc. Married Ruth Marchello Jun 25, 1955 in Bountiful. She died May 30, 2002.
Member of the Catholic Church. Attended Notre Dame Regional School and graduated from Carbon High School. Served U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. Retired as CMSgt. US Air Force Reserves with the 419th Civil Engineer Squadron at Hill Air Force Base with 35 years of dedicated service. Former employee of Kaiser Steel Coal at Sunnyside where he was also a retired member of the UMWA Local 9958. Marcel was an honorary life member of Price Elks Lodge 1550, the Price American Legion Post 3 and the Carbon County Senior Citizens Center. He will be dearly missed by family and a community of longtime friends.
Survived by daughter, Janeen (David) Lyche, Camarillo, Calif.; granddaughters, Amber (Jim) Kolmus and Kristina Lyche; sister, Anice and Dr. Robert J. Robel, Manhatten, Kans.; and brother Albert Blanc, Price. Preceded in death by parents; son, Stephen Burdis; and brothers, Martin Jr. and August Blanc.
Funeral Mass Wednesday, July 23, 10 a.m., at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Vigil service Tuesday evening, 7 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Tuesday and Wednesday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Price City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Carbon County Senior Citizens Center, 30 East 200 South, Price, UT 84501.
Nancy Harbison
SPRING GLEN/VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Nancy Lodeserto Harbison, 69, died July 14, 2003.
Born May 27, 1934 in Spring Glen, she was a coal miner’s daughter of Italian immigrants, Jerry and Minnie Sacco Lodeserto. The Navy brought Nancy and her husband, Fred, to Tidewater, Va. in 1969. After Fred’s retirement, Nancy set up her own uniform and tailoring shop in 1981, which would be the joy of her life. She spent many happy days ensuring that her customers’ clothes – prom gowns to dress uniforms- were perfect. During her 22 years of service, her customers ranged from the Secretary of Defense to young airman, Virginia State Police and her granddaughters. Her customers were her friends and she would take time to listen and offer advice, condolences and congratulations, always with a big smile.
A loving wife and mother, she always put her family before herself, no matter what was going on in her life. Her children were priority and she cherished her grandchildren and husband more than anything else in the world.
She is survived by husband, Fred; daughter, Nan; sons, Richard, Alan, Doak, and Kip; and grandchildren, Shana, Chad, Leah, and Luke; and sisters, Rosie, Anita and Mary; and brother, Albert; and special brother-in-law, Dick. Preceded in death by parents; and brother, Jerry.
A memorial service was conducted Saturday, in Virginia Beach, by the Revs. Parke and Mark Burns. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in honor of Nancy Harbison to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, Ohio 44720. R.W.
