After several months of construction the entryway park along the highway that connects Price to the U.S. 6 overpass near Creekview Mall opened June 26 with the official ribbon cutting cerremony.
City officials were joined by the mall management and Chamber of Commerce members to dedicate the park.
“Price is a wonderful community,” began Dick Flack of Barlow and Nielson Associates, the property management company for the mall.
In his welcoming address he talked about the partnership between the city and the mall. The entryway park will now be maintained by the management company but it was constructed by the City of Price under the direction of Suda Merriman.

In her comments Merriman, who heads the city parks department, said to the crowd that she was asked to head up the project last September and “little did I know it would challenge my talents.”
“We stand here today, on this bridge, as one unit, nine months after dedicating the Creekview Plaza. This project has special meaning to me because Price city trusted and had faith in me in making all of the landscaping and design decisions,” continued Merriman.
Young people from the Seventh District Juvenile Court worked day in and day out for nine months laying sod, placing rocks and planting flowers. Up to 15 kids a day assisted the parks department with the project. It was truly a team effort between many individuals and many departments.
The new park is located at First West and First South.
The management company also talked about adding picnic tables to the area.
