The annual Western Boys Baseball Association all-star tournament kicked off June 7 as teams from Carbon and Emery counties took to the field to earn the chance to compete for this year’s tourney title.
During the first day of competition, the Northern Heights Gray team easily defeated Price National Red, 21-0 in major league play.
Also competing in the major league Monday afternoon was Sunnyside who faced Northern Heights Black on the Price National field.
The visiting Sunnyside team walked away with the victory by the final, 6-0.
During the July 8 games, competition was as hot as the weather as teams from Helper, Price, Sunnyside and Green River competed.
In major league action, Helper hosted Sunnyside and walked away with a 7-6 victory over the visiting team.
Also competing in major league action Tuesday afternoon was Green River who faced the Price National White team in Price. The competition was exciting and Green River captured the 6-3 victory over the host team.
The Helper minor league team welcomed Sunnyside’s minor league squad Tuesday evening. Helper managed to claim their first tournament victory by defeating Sunnyside, 12-2.
Finally, the Price National White minor league team hosted Green River. The Price team easily captured the victory over Green River by the final score of 10-0.
Competition will continue throughout the remainder of the week with a two-day break Saturday and Sunday. Games will be played in Green River, Helper and Price with events beginning at 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. nightly.
