Carbon Dino track and field team continues to run through season

The Carbon High freshman and sophomore track and field teams hosted their own meet last Wednesday as every Region 8 team, minus Lehi competed in the event.
According to Dino assistant coach Stewart Foster, it was encouraging for the younger athletes to have a meet like this.
In the girls division, Marsha Hensen flexed her muscles to place second in both the girls discus and shotput while teammate Alice Johnson placed third in the javelin and fourth in the shotput.
Amie Stewart competed in several events and placed third in the 110 meter hurdles, third in the long jump and second in the 300 meter hurdles. Stewart also placed fourth in the 100 meter run.
Allie Stewart also competed in a variety of events and finished in fifth place in the 110 meter hurdles and fourth in the 300 meter hurdle event.
In the jumping events, Brittany Banning placed second and was followed by Maquette Potts in third place. Potts also placed fifth in the long jump competition.
Mikaleen Loveless placed fifth in the 200 meter run and also had a strong heat in the 100 meter event explained Foster.
In the middle distance races, Brittany Horrocks placed fourth in both the 3200 and 1600 meter runs while Jana Burrows finished in third place in the 800 meter event.
In the boys events, Dustin Howa led the way by placing first in both hurdle events and third in the discuss. Foster explained that Howa has a lot of talent that can be developed as he continues to participate in track.
David Goodrich led the way in the middle distance events by placing second in both the 3200 and 800 meter runs.
Goodrich was followed by Ted Prettyman who finished in third place in the 3200 meter competition.
Randy Jones had a good meet as he placed third in the javelin and second in the 300 meter hurdles.
In the high jump event, Todd Hicken came through with a third place finish.
Following the junior varisty meet, the entire Carbon team traveled to Richfield on Saturday to compete against 15 other teams.
Lee Prettyman placed second in the boys javelin with a toss of 166 feet, 9 inches. Prettyman also placed fifth in the discus with a personal best throw of 124 feet, 6 inches.
Isaac Goodrich rana 10:11 to place second in the 3200 meter run. He also placed second in the 1600 meter event and third in the 800 meter race.
Bryan Stewart ran to a third place finish in the 110 meter hurdles.
In the girls events, Maquette Potts placed second in the high jump while Melanie Madsen finished in sixth place in the 3200 meter run.
The next meet on the Dinos schedule will take place April 29 at Emery High School.
