Last Tuesday evening, the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program graduated 68 fifth graders from Castle Heights Elementary. The 17-week program was taught by Price City Officer Shane Henrie in cooperation with the Carbon CountySchool District. The DARE program began in California 20 years ago and is taught throughout Carbon Country as a method of providing elementary students with good choices. Henrie addressed the parents and students and reminded the graduates that they now have a whole host of skills that will benefit them throughout life. “But it’s like a life jacket,” he reminded them. “The skills are only of value if you use them.”
