As the season continues to progress at a rapid speed, the Carbon Dinos find themselves keeping up with the pace as the Region 8 baseball team continues their current winning streak.
Since the season began, the Dinos have been a difficult team to beat. Currently, the team stands at 5-0 for the season and 8-5 overall.
The fifth straight victory came last Thursday as the Dinos competed against Union in a non-region match up.
The Carbon team dominated the field as they captured the 17-5 win.
Despite the current winning streak, Dino coach, Lane Herrick is reluctant to brag about the teams recent success.
“The main thing is that we continue to improve with each game. Gradually, we are getting to the level which we want to be at. We realize that this is a tough region and we don’t take any team lightly. We just focus on one game at a time,” explained the Dino coach.
With each game, Herrick has noticed that the team comes together stronger each time.
Every athlete has stepped up and continues to work hard, thus the entire team benefits.
“Our offense is coming along each game. And our hitting skills are really progressing. As a coach, I can’t be any happier,” stated Herrick.
Against Union, every Dino player had a couple of hits. With this type of performance, the dugout has become lined with dominant athletes.
“It is nice to say that I didn’t have a single athlete who deserves all the credit. I would much rather say that the win came because of an entire team effort than to say that a couple of players captured the win,” the Dino coach continued.
Herrick did explain that Mike Smith pitched the entire game and did a good job for the successful Dino team.
The baseball team will continue to compete in region action this Tuesday as they compete against the Emery Spartans in Castle Dale.
