Several motor vehicle accidents occurred Monday morning during the rain in the valley and the heavy snowfall in Price Canyon.
“There was a lot of property damage sustained in those accidents,” stated Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Harley Watkins. “But only one had injuries involved with it.”
The injury mishap occurred on State Road 10 at milepost 61, directly on the top of the Hiawatha Junction.
Reportedly, Maggie Leffler, age 20 of Huntington, was headed northbound in a pickup truck when she tried to pass another vehicle.
The driver purportedly lost control of the pickup and started to skid, with the vehicle turning completely around and then flipping end over end backward.
Leffler, who was apparently not wearing seatbelts when the accident occurred, was not thrown from the truck and remained inside the cab as the vehicle turned over.
“The truck was totalled,” said Watkins. “I asked her if she was hurt and she said she thought she might be and so the ambulance transported her to Castleview Hospital.”
There was no citation issued in connection with the mishap.
“She was very lucky she didn’t get thrown out,” said Watkins.
