The College of Eastern Utah men’s basketball team continues to cruise through the preseason. Two of the most recent victories in the chain of wins that the Eagles have racked up came two weekends ago as the team hosted Hill Air Force Base.
The Eagles jumped out ahead of Hill early on in the ball game as they lead the visiting team, 50-30 at the half.
The second half played out much like the first as the Eagles continued their scoring rally and capped off the game with a final score of 109-56. This victory brings the Eagles overall preseason record to 10-1.
During the match up, the Eagles had the opportunity to play each of the team’s athletes. With the win coming off of a total team effort, the Eagles feel confident that the regular season will be a success.
Leading CEU in scoring was GJ Macon who posted 19 points. Macon shot 3-3 from the three-point line while pulling down nine rebounds.
Following in scoring was Derrick Turner who scored 18 points. He also racked up one steal, nine rebounds and one blocked shot.
The game allowed the Eagles to participate in a shooting frenzy as seven players scored in double figures.
Rounding out the double figure shooting roster was Corey Brown with 15 points, Anthony Grant and Chris Langhorne with 14 points each, Mindaugas Katelynas with 11 and Lance Yates with 10 points.
The Eagles continued to prepare for the regular season by participating in two Arizona tournaments this past weekend. This was the final match up for CEU who will return to the court Jan. 2 to kick off the regular Scenic West Athletic Conference season against Utah Valley Community College.
