Roger Byrd


PRICE-Roger Evan Byrd, age 44, passed away on November 25, 2002, while surrounded by his loving family.
Roger was born on Sept. 20, 1958 in Raleigh, N.C., to Richard E. and Evangeline (Vange) Platis Byrd.
He grew up in Miami, Fla., and Price, where he graduated from Carbon High School in 1976. He married Karla Edmondson June 22,1985 in Price. Later divorced. They had two children, who he cherished.
Roger worked for UP&L for 25 years, where he made many good friends.
A devoted Christian, Roger was an elder in the New Life Ministries Church and served missions in Ireland and Mexico. Roger’s deep faith and love for his family sustained him throughout his long battle with leukemia.
Roger loved sports (especially football), hunting with his dog, bicycling, vacationing with family and coaching his son’s sports teams.
Roger is survived by his daughter, Kennedy, and son, Carson, both of Price; his brothers, Jonathan (Michelle) Byrd, Pocatello, Idaho; Richard Byrd, Price; mother, Vange (Steve) Raber, Price. He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral service, Saturday, Nov. 30, 11 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Saturday one hour prior to service. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the New Life Ministries, 1950 W. 4100 North, Helper, UT 84526.
