Fire managers from throughout the Inter Mountain Region gathered in Price Canyon a couple weeks ago to study the Price Canyon fire, which destroyed over 3,000 acres, back in early July. Organized by local fire manager Scott Steinburg, fire officials discussed fire behavior, the weather and how it effects fires, and communications between personnel during a fire. The group of around 50 officials from Utah, Idaho, Nevada and Wyoming were here to learn from the experience local fire official learned form the Price Canyon fire. Initially started by a slow moving train up the canyon, the fire spread quickly through several canyons as it headed east towards Emma Park Road. The group visited three specific sites during their training sessions in the blacken portions of the canyon.
