Emergency personnel assist at the scene of an Oct. 22 traffic accident on old Wellington Road. A white Saturn reportedly plowed into the back of a Dodge pickup as the vehicle was turning left onto the road on Tuesday at about 6:30 p.m. The accident tore up the Saturn, but only took the trailer hitch off the pick up and threw it on the opposite side of the highway. The dark night along with semi-slick rainy pavement may have contributed to the accident. The existing conditions added to the confusion faced by motorists passing by the flashing lights and reflections shining off the damp street. The Utah Highway Patrol warns motorists that the sun not only sets earlier in the day, but precipitation accumulating on roads will create cold weather driving hazards. Motorists should never travel beyond the capabilities of headlights and the ability of a vehicle to stop, particularly on wet evenings.
