Crews disassemble the KOAL radio tower that has served as a sort of welcoming sign to Carbon County for years. The tower came down last Thursday and will probably be sold to another station somewhere in the country. The tower, which stood adjacent to Carbonville Road, has not been used by the station since the 1980s when the frequency of the broadcaster was changed. According to Keith Mason, the tower was erected in 1935 and has obviously stood the test of time. When it was dismantled, it came down in four sections and is still in good shape. The tower was removed mainly because the station does not use it anymore.
