Digital photography studio opens with help of small business development center

By Sun Advocate

Photo Time digital photography studio opened in Ferron in February 2002. Alaina Hales offers digital photography of weddings, families, school events, dance recitals, athletic activities and nature pictures.
Convenience is the foundation on which this business is built. Photo Time uses digital technology to provide high quality photographs at an affordable price. Unlike traditional photo studios, Photo Time allows customers to view all photos immediately after the photo session. Photo Time is completely mobile, provides professional consultation to ensure the highest quality and offers next day and same day delivery service.
Alaina is a graduate of the Nx Level, course offered by the Small Business Development Center. The class taught Alaina the skills necessary to develop a professional business plan. Market research indicated a larger than expected demand in the Carbon, Emery area for photographic services. As a result, Alaina completed her business plan with updated cash flow projections and costs, as well as a marketing plan and financing strategy. Sales projections for the entire year were achieved by early May.
The Small Business Development Center, through the Southeastern Utah Small Business Investment Fund, helped Alaina receive a grant to start her business and continues to provide assistance as her business grows.
“The business plan training I received from the small business development center helped me stay focused on the goals and objectives outlined in my business plan,” states Hales. “I don’t have to wonder what I will do each day because I already have it outlined in my plan. I would strongly recommend the business plan training I received to anyone considering starting a business.”
