Four Corners mental health services agency announces name change

After 30 years of operating under the name Four Corners Community Mental Health Center Inc., the agency that currently serves residents in Carbon, Emery and Grand counties plans to change the corporation’s name.
Starting at midnight on June 30, the agency will officially become Four Corners Community Behavioral Health Inc.
According to executive director Bob Greenberg, the cor-poration’s new name more accurately reflects current integrated approaches to treating mental health and substance abuse problems.
“Our board of trustees thought the new name tells what we do and how we see the treatment and prevention of mental health and substance abuse problems better,” said Greenberg.
The four counties of southeastern Utah started the agency in 1972 as a multi-governmental mental health agency to provide better services than the quarterly state traveling clinic was able to provide, indicated the corporation’s executive director.
During the years from 1972, Four Corners became a major provider of mental health and substance abuse services in southeastern Utah, according to Greenberg.
After San Juan County officials decided to withdraw from the mental health and substance abuse agency in 1988, Four Corners became a private not-for-profit corporation, pointed out the executive director.
The local agency was subsequently designated as the sole source provider for mental health and substance abuse services for individuals residing Carbon, Emery and Grand counties.
At that time, the agency’s three-county advisory panel became the corporation’s board of trustees.
The mental health and substance abuse agency’s board of trustees membership also includes three citizen representatives from Carbon, Emery and Grand counties.
Four Corners’ administrative offices are located in Price and the corporation operates mental health and substance abuse clinics in Price, Castle Dale and Moab.
In addition, the agency sponsors clubhouses in Price and Moab along with the Lighthouse Life and Learning Center in Carbon County.
The corporation’s mental health and substance abuse services are also provided one day per week at the medical clinics operating in Green River and East Carbon City.
Four Corners plans to schedule an open house at the agency’s offices to celebrate the name change and the corporation’s 30th year in business, concluded Greenberg.
