Local dancers scheduled to appear at annual BYU event.
After auditioning by video tape, several dancers from Carbon County were selected to participate in the Stadium of Fire event held at BYU on July 4. Jessica Vea, Erin Wells, Ashley Madrigal, Lacy Timothy, Samantha Eastman, Casey Petersen, Shantel Rodriquez, Jessi Howes, and Tessa Goodall will participate in the annual event which will be choreographed by Julie Webb who also choreographed the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic games. Thousands of dancers auditioned, however very few made the cut. The event will be a milestone for the local dancers.
Tumbling athletes compete at state championship event.
Tumblers from Carbon County recently participated in the state championships held at Spanish Fork High. The young tumblers performed quite well and walked away with several titles.
In the power tumbling event, Cera Petersen, Brett Oliver, Takayl Lambson, Nicky Woodbury, Amber Fralick, Chelsea Wiggins, and Taylor Phillips all placed first. Canessa Montoya, Jessica Moody, and Nikki Sillitoe finished in second place while Ben Moody finished in third place.
In the double mini tramp category, Montoya, Lambson, Oliver, Jessica Moody, Woodbury, Wiggins, Petersen, and Phillips all finished in first place. Sillitoe placed second in the event while Ben Moody and Fralick finished in third place.
The trampoline event found Montoya, Oliver, Sillitoe, Fralick, Rebecca Rummel, Phillips, and Wiggins finishing in first place. Woodbury and Petersen took second place honors and Lambson and Ben Moody finished in third place.
The team of Petersen, Phillips, Lambson, and Montoya placed third overall in the floor level two event.
