Headstones mark the final resting place for residents who have passed away. But the stones often do not meet cemetery regulations.
Before placing a monument, tree, shrub or a physical marker on graves, citizens are required to obtain permission from cemetery officials.
In the event a monument fails to comply with cemetery regulations, including size restrictions, the marker or stone will be removed at the expense of the next of kin or family survivors.
