ARUP volunteer Katie Madsen draws blood from local resident Dale Woodbury. Carbon County citizens lined up to donate blood Tuesday and Wednesday as part of a statewide drive. The blood will be bagged and transported to the Salt Lake area, where it will be typed and the plasma will be separated then stored. Both the plasma and the whole blood are crucial in effectively resolving medical emergencies. All donations make a difference, according to ARUP. The local blood donations will aid patients at the University of Utah Hospital, medical clinics, Primary Children’s Medical Center, Shriners Hospital and the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
