Kyle Fox, chairman, and Kent Allred, co-chair of the Helper Firemen’s Ball in Helper, hope for a good turnout at the event Feb. 9. Firefighters and rescue personnel will visit communities in Carbon to sell tickets for the dance and prize drawings. They will be in the Spring Glen and Kenilworth area Jan. 19. Next weekend, they will selling tickets in Helper. Tickets may be purchased from firefighters, at the fire station or at R&A Market. Proceeds will go toward the department’s rescue unit equipment needs. Last year, Helper Rescue 3 made 250 calls, with the majority taking place in the city. However, the unit frequently responds to traffic accidents in Price Canyon. The fire and rescue units are entirely volunteer departments with personnel taking time away from personal, employment and business schedules to come to the aid of individuals involved in emergency situations.
