Input about whether peregrine falcons should join the list of birds that falconers can capture and keep in Utah will be taken up at an upcoming public Regional Advisory Council meeting.
People may also comment on a Division of Wildlife Resources proposal to change capture season dates so falconers will have a better chance of capturing early nesting bird species that they don’t have access to currently.
An overview of Division activities in the region where the meeting is being held and a presentation by Terry Messmer from Utah State University entitled “Connections: A Master Plan for Wetlands Education” also will be presented.
After each presentation, the public may ask questions and provide their input and suggestions.
The Southeastern region meeting will be held Jan. 22 at 6:30 p.m. in Green River at the John Wesley Powell Museum located at 885 East Main Street.
All those who have questions, comments, and ideas regarding the falcon captures may attend.
