Charlie Guerrero
PRICE – Charles Dave Guerrero, age 48, was tragically taken from us Jan. 13, 2002 in Farmington, N.M.
Born Nov. 14, 1953 in Price, to Guadalupe and Gertrude Rodriguez Guerrero. Married Dawna Gotschall July 26, 1975 in Elko, Nev. Later divorced.
Lifelong resident of Carbon County. Charlie was an active member of the Price Kiwanis, where he held all offices and was president in 1997-98.
He was a dedicated coal miner in various miners and a former member of the UMWA and employee of Joy Mining and Machinery. He enjoyed working on cars, spending time with his grandkids and fixing things that weren’t broken.
Charlie will always be remembered for his willingness to help others and he will be greatly missed by anyone that knew him.
Survived by three daughters and one son, Wendi Guerrero, Price; April Guerrero and Abel Atienzo, Carbonville; Holly Guerrero, Price; Chad Guerrero, Carbon-ville; three grandchildren, Orocell Kaila and Rey Guerrero; mother, Gertrude Ahalt, Salt Lake City; three brothers and seven sisters, Lupe and Bessie Guerrero, Price; Joseph and Toney Guerrero, Logan; Phillip and Donna Ahalt, Salt Lake City; Shirley Burringo, Price; Mary and Arthur Valdez, Price; Virginia Espinoza, Salt Lake City; Mary Helen and Ricardo Marin, Salt Lake City; Priscilla Castanuela, Price; Hope and Richardo Cervantez, Salt Lake City; and Connie Payan, Salt Lake City. Preceded in death by father; brother, Toby Guerrero; nephew, Joe Guerrero Jr.; and grandson, Brendan Guerrero.
Funeral service Saturday, Jan. 19, 2 p.m., Mitchell Chapel. Family will be at Mitchell’s Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to services. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery, Price.
Vopel Lander Jr.
PRICE – Vopel H. Lander, Jr., age 50, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at his home.
He was born Mary 17, 1951 in Dragerton, to Vopel Lander Sr. and Betty Lou Taylor. Married Janel M. McDougald June 12, 1970, later divorced. Married Beverly Spensko Nov. 14, 1992.
Graduate of Grand County High School in Moab. Graduate College of Eastern Utah with three separate associates of science degrees and was working toward a bachelors degree in EMS.
Vopel enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, boating, working on his vehicles and he thrived on continued education. As a beloved member of the community, he will be greatly missed by family and all. With his heart and soul, he was always giving and trying to help others. He was a coal miner for 10 years, an EMT for the past four years and recently as a EMT instructor. Vopel was the founder, president and CEO of Golden Hour Rescue. He was the local representative of the Injured Workers Association of Utah.
Survived by wife, Beverly Spensko-Lander; mother, Betty Lou Lander; daughter, Michelle (Bert) Bruno; sister, Vondel Temple; granddaughters, Jaycey Kay and Kaylee Bruno; niece, Valerie (Alan) Justesen; stepsons, Chance (Becky) Spensko; and Shane (Suzie) Spensko. Also survived by many other nieces, family members and dear friends. Preceded in death by father; favorite uncle, Dick Taylor; grandparents, Chauncie and Nannie-Vera Taylor; and brother-in-law, Bruce Temple.
Memorial service Wednesday, Jan. 23, 11 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitch-ell’s Wednesday one half prior to service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association, 645 E. 400 South, Salt Lake City, UT 84102.
Arthur Rich
WELLINGTON – Arthur L. Rich, age 81, passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, in Provo after a short illness.
He was born May 14, 1920 in Roosevelt to Charles C. Rich III and Theadocia Clark Rich. He married Edna Orlene Powell July 1, 1959 in Rock Springs, Wyo., later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.
He was a cowboy all his life and loved working with his hands, whether with animals or in the coal mine. He was a member of the UMWA, having retired after 30 years with Kaiser Steel. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII.
He loved people and, in addition to his family, he leaves many dear friends behind, by whom he will be deeply missed.
He is survived by wife, Edna, Wellington; children, Carol and Steve Jones, Sherry and Eddie Johnson, all of Woodland, Calif.; Ruby and Rick Sandoval, Price; Orson and Claudette Rich, Price; Mary and Dan Loveless, Ogden; Roy and Christy Rich, Wellington; June and Valorie Rich, Wellington; Wendy Rich, Coalville; and 21 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by 14 brothers and sisters; and two sons, Jesse and Raymond.
Funeral services were Wed-nesday, Jan. 16, at the Wellington 1st/4th LDS Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Wellington City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Virginia Migliori
PRICE/CLEARFIELD – Virginia LaVelle Nielsen Migliori passed away Jan. 16, 2001 in the Davis County Hospital in Clearfield of causes incident to her age.
Virginia was born May 16, 1912 to Anne Magdaline Thorpe and Paul Kalmar Nielsen.
Virginia’s life was spent lovingly taking care of her husband and 11 children.
She worked a number of years for the Carbon County School District. Virginia’s greatest joy in life was her grand posterity.
She is survived by five daughters and five sons, Marjorie Luke, Pleasant Grove; Atelee Jr. and Renae Migliori, Newport Beach, Calif.; Robert and Norma Mig-liori, Arkansas; Jack and Barbara Rowley, Wildomar, Calif.; Karl and Susan Migliori, Vernal; Karen Walker, Poway, Calif.; Ray and Kathryn, Price; Aleta and Ray Cassell, Eden; Eugene Migliori, Layton; and Ann and Ernest Wilson, Las Vegas, Nev. Also survived by 36 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Virginia was preceded in death by husband, Atelee; daughter, Jannette; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Migliori; and granddaughter, Denise.
Funeral service will be Saturday, 1 p.m., at Fausett Mortuary. Viewing one hour prior to service. Burial, Price City Cemetery.
