Salvadore “Sam” B. Melo

    Salvadore “Sam” B. Melo passed away while riding his beloved motorcycle on November 29, 2017 traveling Charleston Road with his best friends Don & Cindy Rogers and Joe Martinez.
    He was born in Carbon County Utah to Salvador and Wanda Gentry Melo, both deceased. He has two brothers, Angelo Paul (Bonnie) Melo and Joseph Melo (deceased).
Sam earned the rank of Master Sergeant in the United States Army serving from 1970 to 1991. His first tour of duty was with the 11th Armored Cavalry (Blackhorse) unit in Vietnam, 1970 – 1971.
    He is survived by his wife Emma and his children, Salvador (Kim) Melo, Nicole (Kevin) Black, Samantha Burns, Evelyn (Chris) Porter, Paul (Kate) Melo and Charles (April) Melo. Sam loved his 20 grandchildren with all his heart and they loved him back.
    He enjoyed spending his time with family and friends, going out to dinner, laughing and talking. He was a loving and kind husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be sadly missed.
Internment Services will be held at 10 a.m., December 4, 2017 at the Southern Arizona Veteran’s Cemetery, 1300 S. Buffalo Soldier Trail, Sierra Vista, AZ 85635.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the 11th Armored Cavalry’s Veterans of Vietnam and Cambodia (11ACVVC), http://www.11thcavnam.com/ or to the Sierra Vista Good Neighbor Alliance.
