The Carbon High School boys’ basketball team suffered an upsetting loss on Wednesday night, falling to the Wildcats of Richfield High School by one point in the final seconds of the game.
The Dinos had worked their way back into a slight lead to end the third quarter, after trailing Richfield by six points at halftime. The entire fourth period was a back-and-forth battle between the Dinos and the Wildcats, with the Dinos taking a slight lead with just over a minute remaining in the game on a three-point basket by senior Chase Morgan. However, the Wildcats made their own three-point shot to take a one-point lead, then stole possession back to add thee more points to their total with less than 10 second remaining. Despite two free throws made by Morgan, and a final two-point basket at the buzzer, the Dinos were dealt the home 52-51 loss.
Senior Kyle Quinton tallied 12 points for the Dinos, while Morgan and senior Jamin Jensen each tallied 11.
The Dinos will play host to North Sanpete High School on Friday, with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m.
